One Man’s Vision

Upon his passing in 1897, Christian businessman William D. Himmelreich’s will designated that substantial monies be directed to build a new library with “The Bible at its center.” Beginning in 1902 when the library first opened its doors, his vision has been realized.

A Legacy For The 21st Century In the 1940’s The Himmelreich was acknowledged as “...the largest church library of its kind in the United States, and the second largest in the world.” Now with the original vision of Himmelreich as our guide, the library’s directors have begun to re-purpose this unique and historic Christian institution as a “Library Without Walls” – with worldwide outreach.

Center For Christian Education

A Center For Christian Education

With over 11,000 individual titles including Christian books, films, and music, The Himmelreich has reached tens of thousands across our valley with The Gospel and the life-changing story of Jesus Christ.

Spanning The Globe

Today, The Himmelreich is expanding our mission and you can be part of it! Stop by to enjoy the hospitality of our Christian reading room. Bring the kids for our Children’s Story Hour. Engage in lively discussions with noted Christian authors. Attend Book Reviews & Adult Studies and Lectures. There are many ways to participate, and we’ve made it easy. Ask how you can become a “Supporting Patron Of The Himmelreich.” Your donation of books to “The Worldwide Auction For The Himmelreich” will help us reach the world for Christ.

Christ At The Center

Himmelreich himself was personally transformed when the person of Jesus Christ became real and alive to him through his readings and study of the scriptures. Today, with the power of modern communications The Himmelreich is preparing to reach all around the world.

America's Free Christian Library

With quality Christian books, study guides, movies, and music all provided FREE to the public, The Himmelreich has been correctly called, “A National Treasure.” Never has Himmelreich’s originating vision to challenge others with the life-changing power of the Gospel been more needed.
